if you get the right hard drive it well run cooler .the ps3 has a fan on the internal powersupply that suck out the heat. If it runs hot just get a intercooler that sounld cool the son of the bitch off

I'd liek to add that unless you keep your PS3 in a freezer, you might want to avoid putting in a 7200rpm (or more) hard drive.
More than 5400rpm will just get too hot for your ps3 to handle.
