Billie Holiday - Lady Day - is outstanding as a vocalist. Her life was much of a hard struggle against strong forces, among them apartheid policy. What a talented artist she was, here together with some of the absolutely best.

Together with Louis Armstrong's Dinah ('30 Copenhagen) and Artie Shaw's Oh Lady Be Good, my favourite TOP 3 Jazz videos.
Thanks!

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. Lester Young's solo is pure blues.

Hiya! Milt Hinton is on bass and Osie Johnson is playing drums. The session is listed here as 1944, but it was recorded on the 8th of December 1957 for a TV film called, 'The Sound Of Jazz' If you wanna get to know Billie, read Julia Blackburn's 'With Bille' (Vintage Books). she comes across as a wonderful woman aswell as the greatest singer ever recorded.
