I call myself Indian or Native interchangeably but not Native American...until there is actual equality for Natives in America, I will not pretend that there is by calling myself "Native American".

Christopher Columbus called us "una gente in Dios", a people in God. I don´t find that offensive at all. The term "Indian" derives from that (no, Columbus didn´t think he had come India, that country was called Hindustan). Be proud to be IN DIOS, everybody.

i suggest you stop using that term
considering the fact that its offensive
its a slang term just like the word nigger or spic. if you knew a thing or two about history you want call us and yourself a indian. the white man called our enslaved ancestors indians as to insult them just like they called the blacks "nigger"

this type of dancing is kept within the tribes and taken on the road to other locations aswell but it is also for everyone. most gatherings try to attract other races to the gatherng to help teach our culture to people like employeeturnedgunman, who do not understand these events and instead say things about a race and the culture which we embrace as indigenous people.
