Gaelic is almost impossible to learn as a foreign language as there are so few native speakers to practice with.

A languague is one of the greatest pilars of a nation. You Irish people sould try to keep your language working, it's one of the oldest in Europe and it would be a great loss for all Europeans.
I would like to learn some words of Gaelic, too. :D

If only it were that easy. In Scotland especially on a daily basis you can hear and read people complain about Gaelic. They seem ignorant to the fact that they are merely expressing the same rhetoric of hate that their ancestors used to try to exterminate the language. They kick it down to nothing, then denigrate efforts to bring it back. Same old story.

funny how the man saying that irish is not used in ireland has an english accent

Let Americans who are fluent in Gaelic emigrate to Ireland and become citizens. That'll bring the language back further. And get over the victimization/British oppression thing already.
