there are a lot of downsides to becoming a savant thru surg, 1)lack of social ability, 2)icreased chance of brain damage in crucial parts of the brain(one thing that comes to mind is thought), 3)inability to peerform simple daily tasks. yes it would be great to be able to remember everything that we see, and then we could paint an exact picture of what we just saw, but to try and do so would take away apart of what makes us human, and hold back on innovation because savant doesn't mean creative.
