What the hell? I got 2:36:?? (i dont remember the miliseconds) and it didn't unlock the expert. I beat it by 5 fucking seconds, and didn't get it! That's the only one I need for Mii outfit B, and it won't unlock it!

I could only manage a 2:43:XXX yesterday because I used the mushroom on the wrong grassed section of the river :P, I can probably whittle it down later today by a second or two and match that ghost :D.

when you set a time on time trials it creates a "ghost" that recreates your exact route when you race against it. "staff ghosts" are ghosts created by staff members who worked on the game. when you beat the first staff ghost's time by a significant amount, it unlocks an "expert staff ghost" that completes the course much faster and is therefore much more difficult to beat. unlocking expert staff ghosts helps you unlock more characters and vehicles I think.

my time: 2:37.47. I beat the "world champion" :) yes i know its not the real world record or anything but i am proud of it.
