Definitely one of the better new wave bands without a doubt! Along with Blondie The Pretenders & The Talking Heads!

the wildest, the masters of camp, and the bizarre, the most original band in the world-THE B-52's! on one afternon nap in 1980, I heard them in my sleep and and I was no longer metal just a head. The costumes, the hair, the hooks, the riffs, the trippy vocals, the futuristic reto effect. I was hooked for good.

On second thought, "huge" was perfectly apt. Where do you think all the skinny ties that emerged in the late 70s/early 80s came from? Not to mention the sound and look of bands like The Pretenders, The Specials, The Bodysnatchers, The Romantics, The Revilloes/Rezilloes, The Go Go's, The Knack, The Plimsouls, etc, etc, etc. Even their names sound early to mid-60s. It was really obvious at the time and it was everywhere.

I use to have lady friends that dressed like that. I never really appreciated it until the styles began to change. The B-52s were a fun band.
