West Side Story, a classic that is actually artistic, sits behind the pitiful excuse for a musical that is HSM? High School Musical is possibly THE worst musical if not movie I have ever seen. And the best part about West Side Story is that Disney didn't get their teeny-bopper grubby little baby hands on it. UGH I have nothing but disgust towards High School Musical and every actor in it.

i wish the jet's girls could have been portrayed as well as the puerto rican girls were. the white girls come off kinda bratty. but the shark girls, they were really cool.

I understand your feelings, though WSS is an opera--just a 'modern' one. Past operas were seen as "new" or contemporary when they were first performed of course. WSS made history as a modern opera, with opera's musical/dramatic apects,& fantastic choreography. The story, a modern-day Romeo & Juliet, is amazing. Have seen too few(except forTurandot, Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro,Magic Flute, Carmen, a few others...and WSS is right up there with them.
