Yes he was. He only did one album with the Chili Peppers and that was one Hot Minute. They only had two important guitar players and that was Hillel Slovak and John Frusciante.

he wasnt in them before the Peppers. The Peppers formed in 1983, and Jane's formed in 1985. He did play with them in their 1997 renunion
