I love flying!! the landings always feel the coolest, with the loudness and shakiness and coolness and whatnot!! I mean, not actually flying a plane, but being in a plane.

Its going a lot faster than it looks.
Airportchris2 (August 18, 2008 at 8:19 pm)
The engines on a 747 at max have the power to roll a firetruck a couple hundred yards.
Airportchris2 (August 18, 2008 at 8:18 pm)
yea, the 747 is at about 140kts minimum, b/c when its landing, its expended most of its fuel, if the fuel was filled just right, so it can fly slower, b/c its lighter, and won't stall.

hmmmm I see
thefsxflyer (August 18, 2008 at 1:41 am)
No a 747 could go slow as 140 but usually 150 fully loaded 180ish but after a long flight 150ish
seb13gp (August 5, 2008 at 7:27 pm)
ummm lol, how would you know its fully loaded buddy? And ANYWAY, despite its speed, its still moving at very fast speeds, Im amazed at how fast these giants and all other aicraft move.

No the plane would not stall, ive seen 737-300's on finalsa at 110Knots, Flaps enable the aircraft to fly at lower speeds by creating more lift in the mid section of the aircraft, This aircraft (747) Is moving at around 140knots, normal Approach speed for a semi loaded 747, the FAS is decided in the FMC, Aircraft land with not much fuel, Being light they can move slower making the landing alot easyer, also the flaps and slats allow lift at lower speeds.

ok, I over exagerated but 140 knots is way too slow, the plane would stall. Hes going about 165-170 knots. Thats abput lets say 300 km/h ....207 mph?
Boeing757basher07 (August 5, 2008 at 3:29 pm)
No no no its not, Its doing about 140knots around 170ish MPH, No plane lands at 320MPH. |
