if that "advice" is for me, it's wasted. as a musician - i am versed in how effective simple can be. for a throwaway pop song, sure...this is fine. so here is some advice for you - just because someone does not do cartwheels over something you like, it does not mean they are wrong.

Don't take simple for granted. Just because some things exist outside of what is seen as progressive doesn't mean they aren't fundamentally innovative by their nature.
Which is almost the theme that comes from this song. New and simple is more objective and thus clearer in thought, able to learn from mistakes because experience is often calloused by its own existence.

hmmm...don't think that really reflects on the US in a negative way. i don't hear any thing terribly interesting in this piece of music. i guess it's moderately clever in a nursery rhyme sort of way. but it is not what you'd call innovative, dynamic, or melodically advanced. just a simple sing along little jingle, no more imaginative than countless commercials on television every day. not that it's bad, it's just not something that will ever be recognized as at the top level of human creativity |
