I agree. Trotsky would have been a better ruler, a better man.

Yes, Gorbachev gave people the tools and Putin has since reclaimed them all.

gorbachev is the one who ended the cold war, and brought liberty to Soviet Union, and actually to Europe. He started reforms that let the people seek independence.

Gorbachev was a money hungry capitalist that screwed and entire nation and led millions into poverty. Then the stupid americans gave him a "Peace Prize" to make him feel better.
But now Gorbachev in his old age knowing he will die soon, REGRETS his capitalist ways and prays to god to help Russia and all other subjests of the former Soviet Union

You're right that only Lenin was a true Communist hero, and everyone else was totalitarian, but Gorbachev was a capitalist. Have you read about his policies? He allowed a near-full free market and corporations, which caused all of the problems which, under Lenin's regime, one would never have seen.
CruxisXIII (June 25, 2008 at 6:07 am)
Gorbachev was a Leninist and that was the problem. Lenin was the only true communist leader in all of world history, after he died the Soviet Union lost it's grounds. It became a nation with no grounds that was controlled by Totalitarianism. After Stalin, the USSR was completely controlled through its government; everything controlled. Lenin did NOT believe in that, and when a leader who came into power implemented Leninism back into the USSR, the whole thing just collapsed. RIP Lenin, good man.

This guy received the Nobel Peace Prize? That disgusts me. He single-handedly ruined a nation. Poverty rose from 1% to over 40%. Inequality rose, and for the first time, people experienced homelessness, unemployment, crime, and drug abuse. Say what you want about the USSR, but the fact remains that it was stable until this joke of a leader showed up.
