View of the historic Cobb Estate in Altadena, CA. Rumor has it that the cobb salad was invented here the night of the grand open house when the estate was first built.

The Decorator's point is fairly valid. We need more love, less hate and stress in this world. Sometimes a little harmless white lie helps to achieve this goal. What one needs to constantly watch for are those jealous, faceless Haters that spew the vicious black lies. It is not always easy to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you want the truth, go to the location where this video was taped and read the bronze plaque at the trailhead.

Ms. Thedecorator raise an interesting point, however. On the rare occasion (when prayers are answered) that we youtube fans are granted insight to the mysterious origins of various salads, or other rabbitkin delights, we are all too often met with lies and deceit. Over the many years we've come to terms with this, but what really stings is the overwhelming lack of love. Because, afterall, if a man can't find love in the critique of a Cobb Salad story, where can he?

Not true! At least not according to Larry David and that Curb Your Enthusiasm episode!

What the..?? Does every YouTube comment have to be some gauntlet throwdown? If his info is mistaken, just correct politely and move on.

Great video! Another little known fact was that Harpo Marx hated the Cobb Salad but loved to cook. His Harpo Salad was actually much better than the Cobb Salad. Unfortunately the Del Montes made sure the Harpo Salad would never take off.

I think my Comment Policy is pretty sweet...

You're the reason Web sites like Wikipedia have to monitor their user generated information. You're corrupting the world, and I'm guessing that this comment won't pass your "comment policy," which by the way does a wonderful job of loving your users. Keep spreading the love and lies.

That Tim, always the joker. Methinks he might be confusing Charles Cobb (the Cobb Estate builder) with Robert Cobb (the Brown Derby owner and creator of the Cobb Salad). Easy mistake to make with all the wild romaine lettuce and avocado trees growing in the hills above Altadena.

A sad piece of epicurean history.
