Dream Theater reaches out to no one. Individually they probably make close to what James and Lars make and not from album sales because DT can't match up there. All of DT's members do clinics, and have videos, and tons of string, stick, and instrument endorsements. Things Metallica does NOT have.
Portnoy's drum setup alone costs probably 5x what Lars kit costs to maintain show to show.
But it's not about the money, it'd about the "love".

He would probably say, "You learn that drumming in 5th grade, Lars?"

I agree with you all the way, lars was a good drummer back then becuase of production but he's the only drummer i heard that has not improved through out the years since day 1. if anything it seems like he's going down hill since the rest of the band seems to improve on some areas, but lateley the band has been a washout.. SINCE the black album, anything after the black album is not Heavy Metal.

Lars was always a bad drummer because he never learned musical theory, he never learned to read a score and if you watched the old Metallica docs he pretty much was a guy who started playing drums the week before he made that classified which James answered. James himself said Lars didnt know shit about drums when they got together they just played things by ear.
None of Lars fills or rhythms have changed since day one and I think he only USED to SOUND like a good drummer because of production

If dream theater was in any way trying to reach metallica fans with this video they should have had a heavier song playing |
