I usually just... Know where my ship is, and look at the bullets :S

Amazing.
I've just recently got DonDonPachi for the PS2 and it's doing a number on me. Can finish the first two stages without dying, but from 3 upwards I'm living toast.
I still tend always panic in the midst of too many bullets and get myself killed over something stupid.

I don't own this game yet but I was just curious: On the first boss near the end why are there periods where you don't shoot?

I'm far from the best, but...
When playing, I look at where I'm shooting, occasionally looking at my own ship when things get hectic.

I always wondered, when playing shooters in general (not just Dodonpachi), do you look more at your own ship or at the enemies you shoot at? Hey, if I'm gonna get tips for getting better at 'Ikaruga' (you'd really like that game, if you haven't already played it), why not ask the best? XD Seriously though, awesome vid. You make it look so easy when I know it certainly isn't.

I like the way you play this game ^^

It's an old habit from playing Psikyo games. Your ship would fly up and off the screen and then you'd go to the next stage... so if you're already at the top screen, you could start the next stage, like, a whole second earlier! And since I'm P1, I'd go to the top left...
Then it just became my lame "signature."

Why do you always go top left after defeating a boss? |
