Made by Chuck Jones in 1940. I've been looking and looking for this one and have finally found it. I thought the mouse had run away because of that makeshift bundle he carried. Love the view from the end of the beak! Remember this one?

Starting with the first ever made cartoon getting a Blue Ribbon release, but only after many other Blue Ribbon reissues had been done..(Notes on themes follow) "The Country Mouse" "Little Dutch Plate" [Since both had the harlequin going "That's All Folks", which would sound sparse :), the Carl Stalling 41-54 MM signoff theme is simply played instead on those.]"A Feud there was" forgot a few...."Aint that Ducky""Tale 2 Mice",both 1940s, did as well. There was no such card for new releases.:).

Sniffles was one of my favorite when I was younger. So innocent, so sweet. Today's cartoons can't hold a candle to those of earlier years in my opinion. Thanks for posting this.

This was one of the few "Blue Ribbon" reissues that had the words "The End" instead of "That's all folks!" "Daffy Doodles" was another one that has "The End" attached to it.

Orighinally released in May 1940 {this is the 1952 "Blue Ribbon" reissue}, and one of Jones' best "Sniffles" stories [written by Dave Monahan], with a great music score by Carl Stalling. The conflict stems from Sniffles' idea of a perfect vacation in the country, and how his "oversized" surroundings and his own fears eventually destroy it.

Cool, but why can't I find "naughty but mice" (w/sniffles) anywhere online?

I remember that one, been looking for it myself. The little mouse was called Blabbermouse and he and several other micwe were taking a tour of a department store after hours, one led by a WC Fields type. Lots of fun songs in that one too.

Say yopu know what? Although his cartoons are directed by Chuck Jones, Sniffles has kind of a Bob Clampett kind of design to his face.
