This is "Have You Seen the Stars Tonite", "X-M", and "Starship", often referred to as "Blows Suite", here missing the opening "Sunrise".
Of course we all know this :)
Thanks for posting!

I like this guy on guitar better than chaquico on the Blows material. Chaquico is a sound technician, but this guy is more expressive and feeling.

I'll tell you right now it's probably in an altered open D tuning. That's generally what Paul and David played in.

Close call with Byrds connection - Paul Kantner wrote the song in collaboration with David Crosby. "Would you like to go up on a deck..." refers to DC's sailboat. Jerry Garcia, however, made the song shine so brightly on Blows Against the Empire with his beautiful and underrated pedal steel guitar playing. It is a stunningly beautiful recording. Paul's crowning glory!

It truly does, and I believe it is because Jerry and Micket Hart collaborated with Starship on the original recording

I thought mistakenly that the Byrds did this originally. And doesn't this sound like a Dead concert if heard glancingly? |
