Towards the end of his life, McLaren said in an interview that he would be using computers if he was starting out today.
I also take the point that the pioneering work he did painting directly onto film, etching the audio directly, adds to the enduring sense of awe of his work. Had he been computerised, he could have spent more time realising creative ideas, less time on laborious production.

man, I hope to run in some 16mm copies of this guy one day!

I can see what you guys mean--with computers, it feels like we've all lost our sense of wonder a little bit, since almost anything is possible. We don't really appreciate the amount of work that goes into something like this. Or even into computer animations today, something like wall-e.

This is actually quite an interesting point.

Sorry if it seems I didn't! I did, truly. I was just adding remarks of mine to yours. :)

check my videos and you may understand my point.

Interesting remark. Yet, sometimes one can just get fed up with computers, and choose to go the other way round. (You know, I don't really want to imagine reality without the web, for instance. It gives you too many opportunities to enhance your being. So I guess i know you're right, but I'd say...ok, but wth!! :))

I know what it is, you doofus. I'm referring to the method of combining both lines(horizontal) and lines(vertical), as on projectors, not as on a video editing suite. (For all those interested, look up the essay on McLaren by Robert Koehler)

it is all 16 mm film you square lined head. you can do it in an hour now with a computer, but I bet you{ve never seen a 16 mm film camera opr even less a projector. |
