PART II is now available on Youtube and at: (www.nlcnet.org/article.php?id=243) In the global economy, corporations demand enforceable laws - intellectual property and copyright laws - backed up by sanctions to protect their products. However, when we ask these same companies, "Can't we also protect the rights of the 16-year-old who made the product?," the companies respond: "No. That would be an impediment to free trade!" Young garment workers in Bangladesh share their experiences working for companies like Disney and Wal-Mart.

If that were possible, China would not have been poor in the first place. All of the Asian 'tiger' economies have grown wealthy through an export driven development strategy. But actually, with the U.S. dollar appreciating in relation to the Yuan, the Chinese are beginning to sell more of their products at home, thanks in part to the large inflow of American capital from export sales. That's the beauty of free trade.

I hope there is a special place in hell for the corporate heads behind these sweatshops and their local consorts. It's ridiculous, if the workers could just earn 34 cents an hour they could rise out of their impoverished state.

America is already being made like the 3rd world.

The other side of the coin is that with growing corporatism, they buy up land and buy out small farmers which for them to have to work for these starvation wages.

It's no wonder people were drawn to Communist Forms of government. The Capitalist left unchecked will always seek slave labor for their riches. Although I prefer a capitalist society, I think they should have little privileges and be taxed extensively. The corporation always reminds of us of how the people had nothing before they employed them. What they don't tell you is how little they pay these souls. Read up on the Ludlow Massacre in America, and see what happens when Corps. have free reign

You can't support a family on a farm when your produce has to compete with bulk imports from countries where agriculture is heavily subsidised. Dumbass.
