LOL. You can save SO MUCH TIME:
To roll the number you want, find out which number comes before it (watch the top face of the die) and get ready to Buster it (not sword). The moment the die's top face rolls to the desired number, Buster it and it will give you the number you want if you did it right. =)

in the first boss battle you actually have to kill the one in the gold armor first... that way they won't attack at the same time

Dude, not to be rude or anything, but the gameplay is kinda pathetic, again not being rude or a prick, just being honest...
If i were you i'd practice a bit... learn the attack patterns of the bosses and the others, then devise a strategy for`em, then do a succesfull run (without so much damage and stuff)
Oh, and try charging up the Red Queen some more, it helps the combos and damage
