I didn't know that about Chaplin at all!
Poor thing, that's maybe the reason that he had many wifes, he changed. But we can see it in his movies that he really left his soul in his work.

from my research i understand that nothing meant more to chaplin than his art. he just got lost in it and became a different person. He struggled with his personal life as a result. he would just forget everyone in his life and focus on creating a film. That is why he was such a brilliant artist.
