Crazily good song, with powerful arrangement. Lot of soul in the voice and performance. The jazz version might be better. Still listen with same joy as when i first heard it!!!

Does he really sound like the guy from Curiosity Killed The Cat? Well in my opinion, the guy from Lighthouse Family sang quite a bit like the guy from CKTC. Sometimes Hue and Cry reminds me of Level 42. I don't know why but they just do. This is one hell of a song and it makes me want to get up and dance.

I loved this video in the 80's and it's still as fabulous now. Takes me back to my teenage years spent idolising these guys, it's just a shame that Hue & Cry fans were always a minority, because Pat & Greg deserved much more recognition.

CHOOOOOOOOOOON!!! Honestly I prefer the shorter version, it's great for bar flair.

"This is a political song about the economic and social pain of the economic reforms of Thatcherism and their effect in late 1980s Scotland. Kane makes reference to "about seven years ago" - at the time the song was written, this was 1979, the year Thatcher got into power. As it would turn out, this strange two-step record would reach No.6 in the UK charts in June 1987." from hue&cry website
