This is a truly great example of a political song that had and still has a lot of power. There is so much crap out today proclaiming to be political, but the message has been saturated into a dance beat. Bob Dylan though, wrote about the real world. He spoke about what was going on in society and was forecasting the things to come with this song specifically. The man is a poet in every sense of the word. He told us the truth and we all owe a debt to him for paving the way for music with a cause.

It's a damn sight better than the old one. The world will never be perfect but that doesn't mean that we must simply accept that which is. The world is a better place without segregation in it, it isn't what it should be but it's closer to what it can be. |
