The rise of gun violence in the Philippines is being blamed on the country's notoriously slow judicial system. Legal action is costly and can take years and as a result, many people resort to murder as a means of settling grievances. Al Jazeera's Marga Ortigas reports

Wow, people like you do actually exist. No wonder you're still stuck in poverty. Yes let's all blame the tsinoys and mestizos!

I say good for that Hitman that he can make some money while getting rid of those gabbage that pollute the philippines. If those rich Chinoys(filipino chinese) and Mestizos wanna knock each other out then thats fine with me, thieve plagued this country with their corruption and greed for to long.

Sad to see a life can be worth $100 USD in the Philippines. Yet life doesn't seem worthless because people are still dying to live. The world is very much a paradox.

The CIA themselves admitted to trying to knock off Fidel Castro alone a half-dozen times....

I agree, read my comment after the comma. Nonetheless I think you provided a pretty good defense of protecting journalist's sources.

"Do you think journalists should have to reveal their sources to the police? Instinctively I'd say yes," Woaahhh! That's a seriously fucked up instinct you've got there! Protection of journalistic sources is one of the very core fundamentals of a free press, and protection from totalitarian society. Just think how many leaks and whistleblowers you will stop from coming out if you expect sources to be revealed. In many cases, the police / justice system / politicians ARE the problem.

"the American Government may be one of the least corrupt." HAHAHAHAHAHA! ROFLMAO!!
lastnymleft (July 11, 2008 at 9:48 pm)
"But do you think the American Government has hired assasins?" YES. Black-ops are standard operating procedure. "I would hate to think that America would stoop so low" Such innocence! Sigh.
