There is something strange in the air out west, and often casual observers don't recognize what they have seen, so to them they are Unidentified Flying Objects [UFOs]. However this group is a product of very creative minds, working on the edge of technology, and creating unique ways to 'slip the surly bonds...' These photos are from NASA archives, and are in the Public Domain. These images span over 50 years of research and development. The research that went into these aircraft has had many applications and the knowledge gained is not without cost, both financial and in the lives of test pilots. I hope you enjoy this gallery. Music is by Paul Speer, "Eagle's Path". ERRATA: Pointed out by Viewers There are name errors in the video Predator has been mis-spelled in several places. The "X-37 with Proteus" picture should say, "X-37 with White Knight". 1:25 is actually a Rapier, not a predator. (created on the 38th anniversary of the first lunar walk...)

The aircraft is a Predator, Preditor is a computer software program. There are several deliberate mis-spellings being used in video games as well. Why this new fad? Beats me!

anytime x is in the designation number it means experimental.

It is a M-12 and D-21, actually. The M-12 isa modified A-12.

That f-105 one is the Prototype, and if you look at it you will see it isn't marked F-105. As the prototype, it WAS an x-plane (experimental), also some of the X-planes did go into production, but the fact of later production doesn't prevent the development airframes from being experimentals.
