JR East has COSMOS (Computerized Safety, Maintenance and Operation Systems of Shinkansen), JR Central and West have COMTRAC(Computer aided Traffic Control System) and JR Kyushu has SIRIUS (Super Intelligent Resource and Innovated Utility for Shinkansen Management). Everything is under control.

there is a system of time checks and speed checks between point a and b, and at each station the trains stop at. in that way, the train driver can speed up or slow down in order to meet the correct timing.
