Is that so? All this time I thought Yvonne was filipina---must have been from reading some of the past comments. No matter how you mix it, we can all agree she came out very well indeed. Thanks for the correction.

She is not filipina. Her father was of Irish descent, and her mother shared Japanese and Chinese ancestries. She was born and raised in Honolulu, and graduated from President Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1970.

We agree, kncybul. I love filipina women and Yvonne is so engaging and her voice is so soothing like so many from her culture.

I was 8 years old when this movie was made. I think I saw it on HBO in 76 or 77 at 10 or 11.
Since that time, I have had a crush on Yvonne Elliman. Her song is so beautiful. Her face shows every single human emotion as she sings the song.

I don't think it says that at all. I think she is saying she "loves him from afar" but that his light is so bright if he ever, even though she knows he cannot, were to express love back to her, it would so truly frighten her she wouldn't be able to take it.
In my view, this song in no way makes them lovers. |
