"designed" by its own people? hardly! the election may have involved its people, but there were restriction on which parties could run, and since the elections the gov hasnt exactly been enforcing the will of the people (same problem with our democracy what a coincidence) as for the oil, youre right, not "straight" to the US, it goes through Israel first. besides US COMPANIES (like i said) doesnt neccessarily mean US markets.

As for Vietnam, diplomacy and a treaty ended that war. Took about 6 mos. for the North to break it too. And Somalia? What government existed there to negotiate with? As for Iraq1, Neville Chamberlain taught us the fool hardiness of diplomacy. Saddamn invaded his neighbor. And refused the UN's order to go.

its happening right now in Iraq: a "treaty" between US and ....a country militarily occupied by US.... (called a SOFA, google it)
