Well... it doesn't Haha. There's no excape from an atomic bomb, other than to receive treatment for radiation (that'd be iodine) the explosive force would kill you right off if the heat didn't. If you are far enough away, then it could help a bit... like a tornado drill. It's not gonna do much, but it's better than nothing. Really, this was a comforting thing. It's better to tell a bit of a lie to the nation if they don't break out into riot in the fear of nuclear war, a real dander then.
