Sorry but I don't see a correlation between America's signature folk style in their early yrs to the "Eagles or Stones"(?).
I was talking about mainstream-pop in terms of selling out. America was never Hard Rock to begin with. And if you don't notice a difference between greats like: Ventura Hwy, Tin Man, Horse w/no Name, etc, and this catchy tune..
Still a great band though. I just wish they never compromised their great story telling music to catchy rifts and monotonous lyrics.

This song totally brings me happiness and pure light! Thank you, America!

I liked the part where they sing " . . . now I know there can be no doubt, You can do magic!"
So I spent the whole afternoon trying to do magic but I couldn't do it. Obviously there is SOME DOUBT I can do magic. They should have done more research on this magic stuff, wasted my whole friggin afternoon.

sorry sold out is used all to much... The band had to become softer in the 80s or would not have had any success (not all bands can be the eagles or stones) This 80s song still stands out as a good combination or 70s and 80s mix

From Folk-Rock to Yacht-Rock. Another great 60/70's band who sold out to the corporate 80's.. Just click on 'Tin Man' to see what im talking about.. polar opposites.

I remember when this song came out...I liked it then, and still do to this day.
America is a terrific group, don't get me wrong. I just get a kick out of how things have changed over the years....music, hairstyles, clothing, etc. etc.

I'm still living in the "old days." I refuse to carry a cell phone...and haven't used an ATM card in over 25 years.
Oh...and like krazykritik..I still have longer hair then most and still part it in the middle.
Oh..and also dislike most of "todays" music..listen to oldies mostly on the radio.
I'm probalbly going to be like Mr. Wilson when I get to grandpa age...and tell kids how things were better back in my day! |
