Continued comment: This is fabulous example of a great jazz artist taking a standard tune and making it his own; not only the improvisation, but the head also. Only those with "ears to hear" and souls that understand what level this player is on will comment appropriately. I've heard alot from Freddie over the last 40 years, and this particular offering is one of his very best.

Freddie is an amazing improvisor. When he's busy...he's saying something...when he's reserved he's saying something. To say that he is too busy, is to admit that the critic has no ears for jazz improvisation. (Must be a wedding band player at the DAV Hall, or something). Every quick flurry line he played colored the solo just the way he intended...Can't you hear it...can't you tell?

It was very very good. My only problem is that it was a bit busy for the song. Misty is a standard and sounds best when played very clean. I'm just not big on his interpretation of the song. He is an excellent player none the less.

What a jerk you are. Can't you read? Try again. I said "rare are those who strive be the best by starting on a cheap instrument." I put Charlie Parker as rare. If you would read more carefully instead of making stupid remarks maybe there would be more intellectual comments on here. And no I am not an instrument salesman or play in an orchestra. I play in a jazz band called "First Take" Pay no mind to this jerk artman182 I came here to make some positive feedback on starting to play as an adult.

What a crock of shit. Charlie Parker recorded his "best" album with a plastic saxophone b/c he hocked his good one for smack. Another good one I've heard is that a person can fix their intonation by buying a "good" clarinet. It's all crap. The way a person gets good is by practicing, practicing and listening. This person is probably in instrument sales or plays in their local orchestra.

hey Tony, If you really want to play the trumpet don't make the mistake and buy a cheap one. That's like racing a volkswagon in the indy 500. Many people give up because they can't get past the bad instrument. Rare are those who strive to be the best by starting on a cheap instrument. When I finally got a decent one I was in heaven. I was able to play without the restrictions of a terrible instrument. Besides you can always sell a good horn. You'll always get stuck with a bad one.
