Another mysogynistic aspect of the American system. Health insurance policies WILL NOT COVER contraception for women, however they WILL cover viagra for men.

I recommend the documentary SICKO by Michael Moore. Every allegation he alleges in the film is TRUE. When I was pregnant with my daughter 21 years ago, I was covered on 2 health insurance policies...one of my own, and one my then husbands. STILL I didn't get to see a doctor till I was 5 1/2 months pregnant, because every doctor and hospital in Dallas Texas demanded PAYMENT IN FULL!, before I could even SEE a doctor.

Even WITH health insurance (which you normally have to pay hundreds of dollars per month for) there is still a deductible (perhaps $500.00) and STILL the insurance pays only a portion. Health insurance in the US is a DISCRACE!! Meant only for the wealthy and priveleged. At lease in the UK it is a right...not ONLY a privelege. George Galloway ROCKS!!!

Cont..effective. So what do you do ? Pay via insurance to guarantee treatment ( as I understand things go in the US ? ). But if you did that, you`d still have to pay NI here ! I don`t know what the answer is. Anyway, back to GG. I don`t yet know enough about him to form an opinion one way or another.

AND because he's spent a lifetime financing it. Here, we simply don't have a choice. I know the Brits pay tax...a helluva lot of tax including AVT etc. But there's a bit of security knowing that if you get sick, you're not going to lose your home and everything you've ever worked for. Back to the point....Galloway is AWESOME!!!

I know it's paid for. If it's elective, you might have to wait. But my husband has never waited for something necessary. Since we are both living in the US, and among the 45,000,000 people without health insurance, we have no options. At our age it would be difficult for ANYONE to afford health insurance. My husband has gone to the UK many times in the last 5 years for healthcare. Why? BECAUSE IT'S CHEAPER!

Hi Hereticbooks. We pay for `universal health care,` through tax. But getting it is another matter entirely ! My wife waited 4 years - often in considerable pain, I might add - for an op. on her leg. During all of this period she was working and paying tax. Ah, but if you want an abortion, well that is, again, an entirely different matter. We can always find trhe resources here in "Great" Britain to arrange an abortion - whether one is working or no !

Yet you never served and sit behind your computer spreading hate knowing full well that brave soldiers will fight your batte, thats worse then being a hippy. Maybe because its American and other developed countries who do nothing only until it effects them and let the third world countries tear themselves apart, sitting back saying its wrong and doing nothing so when you do the same thing obviously people will getting very pissed off.
