I don't see why some of you guys should say one is better than the other. BJJ is great for the ground game, and wrestling is great for the take-down game. Praciticing both helps A TON (I know). Jake Shields had the upper hand because of it. Each style is great in its own way, and combining them just makes you a better grappler.

Every BJJ fight starts standing so you gotta train as much takedowns as possible!! If those clubs don't teach BJJ: shame on them!!! Here in Brazil every decent BJJ club trains like: 1 day only takedowns, 1 day only ground game!! But of course when we spar, we spend much more time on the ground!!

fair enough, I know that bahiana is used in bjj. that said, your club must be very special, since basically none of the many many bjj clubs I've trained at practice takedowns. on the other hand wrestling clubs spend 80% on their drills on such moves.

I don't know if you are being ironic, but I do practice that since I was a white belt in my BJJ!! That happens to be the MOST COMMON TAKE DOWN IN BJJ!! We even have a special name for it, it's called "bahiana" or "bahianada" here in Brazil!! Anyway, the take down has NOTHING to do with the outcome of the match!!! If it wasn't for the BJJ move he wouldn't win!!

Almost zero wrestling? Yeah, that single-double leg is just such a bjj fundamental, praciticed all the time in bjj clubs...

What the FUCK are you talking about man?? He defeated him with a BJJ move not with Wrestling!!! To tell you the truth there was almost ZERO Wrestling in this match!!
