I don't see Lloyd Price on stage with the boys.

It may b the Xmas '73 TOTP's, but the footage is from early '73 or even Xmas '72, when Wizzard were at no. 29 in the chart.
Notice the blue, red and white back-drop & check out The Sweet's "Blockbuster," from roughly the same time - same back-drop.
The Xmas '73 show did not have that back-drop - see Slade "Merry Xmas Everybody."
By w/e 6 & 13 Jan, '73 "Ball Park Incident" had risen to no's 15 & 6 in the chart. The Sweet entered the chart with "Blockbuster" at no. 16w/e 13 Jan.

No, it's the 1973 christmas special showing the hits for the year. Hence the tinsel around the camera.

Given the brilliance of Roy Wood's early stuff, you would have expected great success in the 1970s. But he faded away and Jeff Lynne came into his own...

Wouldn't it be better if that prat Steve Wright hadn't made his usual " witty " comments !

This could have been taken from the original broadcast of "Ten Years of Top of the Pops" which was a one hour show shown on New Year's Day 1974 (if memory serves). Wizzard were the last band on ... mind you, I could have sworn it was See My Bady Jive they played ... oh dear, where did I put my tablets?

Ball Park Incident charted (Top 75) week ending 9 December 1972 and peaked at no. 6 on 13, January 1973 for 3 weeks.
This footage is from January of 1973.

I've just spooled 10538 Overture. It was only logical that this was next on my list. What a fantastic track. Thanks for post.

Since the advent of YouTube I've been thinking about throwing away my computer and buying a Dansette. |
