How to field strip an SKS / Disassembly of an SKS

I decided to make this video when I saw no one on YouTube (that I could find) had posted a how-to on the tear down and reassembly of the venerable Siminov SKS Carbine. I think I messed up in the very beginning by calling the receiver cover the magazine cover, but I uttered a correction under my breath (to my defense, hehe) I hope this video is informative to my fellow gun enthusiasts. Dico tibi verum libertas optima rerum Nunquam servili sub nexu vivto, fili!

Thank you for being the 1E6 person to have the same comment! Unfortunately, this has been hashed and rehashed and I have admitted it as a mistake before and made amends. Thanks for commenting!

You didn't check that the firearm was unloaded. That is the first thing you always have to do.

Ooh, Makarov Subbed

I just might do that. I have a Hi-Power 9mm and a Makarov strip in the works as well.

I agree. Could you possibly make a field stripping video for your M44? That would be awesome.

Thank you! That means a lot to me.

Great video bud. There are many out there that buy these rifles and never get a manual with them. Youtube works great for folks such as that, and it only works great because people like yourself and many others take the time to video it.

As said before, if you want to get a FULL STRIP, then look at adak1974's video. If you want to do a FIELD STRIP, then look at mine. In my defense, this is the first video to authoritatively outline the stripping of the SKS ever put on youtube, so the 1st generation can have its faults while maintaining its intent.

Yes, it is a very nice Russian rifle. One of my favorites actually.
