The gag required a tilted camera as well as a tilted room.

Actually, the soloist is the great hugely popular male vocalist Henry Burr (1882-1941). Though he achieved his fame in the U.S., Burr was Canadian-born.

One of his funniest skits, in my opinion. I was pretty young when my parents would watch it, and the three things that are etched in my mind was Ernie pouring the milk, Dutch Masters Cigar ads, and the Nairobi Trio. I had a nice flashback in the '80s when NY PBS re-ran some of his shows. A true classic...thanks for posting!

This is indeed from his "Silent Show"- better known as "Eugene"- which aired on November 24, 1961 {pre-empting "THE FLINTSTONES" that evening on ABC}.

The tune is "There's a Little Spark of Love Still Burning," a vaudeville song from 1914. I'm not sure who did the recording used here. The voice reminded me of Oliver Hardy's. |
