In the verse you quoted, the word "Awliya" is used. It is a plural and its singular is "wali". The correct translation of the word ""wali"" is not "friend" but it is someone who is very close and intimate. It is also used to mean "guardian, protector, patron, lord and master".

My interpretation is that "disbeliever" would only qualify Muslim bashers such as yourself. I myself am Christian, but we share a common god. Most religions, even Islam, have a golden rule which is almost always the same, "Treat others how you would like to be treated."
I believe that the reason so many Muslims are terrorists is that the area al-Qaeda is centered in is heavily populated with Muslims. Therefore, the people who turn to terrorism are more likely to be Muslim than anywhere else.
