Ben's owes his life to science and plain old instinct. Without science they wouldn't have been able to detect the tumor in his eye when he was young, they wouldn't have been able to remove his eyes and he wouldn't have been able to navigate the way he does without his instinct to survive and learn. His abilities have nothing to do with god, and more to do with the infinite powers of the mind. The human mind created 'God.'

Another extraordinary kid conveniently manipulated to serve some kind of religious "faith" trying to "explain" what science can explain by itself, lead by her understandably scared, God-fearing mother, and a hawaiian-shirted "preacher" who looks as honest and dependable as a clown holding a machete with his teeth.
I can´t wait to see him grow and make his own decisions.
Amen.

I have nothing against christians, but the way I see it is that Ben's echolocation ability is the result of an interesting way of development in the visual areas of his brains. Daniel Kish has actually trained other blind people in discovering their echolocation ability.
And if God's responsible for what happens to people, then he quite clearly lets innocent children die of diseases such as cancer, which btw would have definately killed Ben, had medical science not intervened.

Yes but that night Oprah Winfrey saw Ben while Ben didn't saw Oprah, and Oprah was aware that Ben couldn't see her, so "nice to see you" for me sounds odd

Actually, when you hang around Ben, you forget that he can't see. He seems like a completely normal kids. I played video games him, watched tv shows, went surfing. Even though he doesn't have eyes, doesn't mean he can't "SEE". Instead, Ben SEEs things through sound, through smell, etc.

At 04:45 the Winfrey made a terrible blooper by saying "nice to SEE you" to a blind person :-D |
