D.S.? ...David?
This song's sung by Brendan Perry, one half of Dead Can Dance, the other being Lisa Gerrard. Did you mean David Sylvian? He was not involved in this.
Besides that, and not wanting to start another discussion, people feel calls by plenty of other deities or entities, or people. But Dead Can Dance always invited -and explicitly said *so*- people to listen into their music what they felt they had to hear, using musical techniques from *all* major religoious musical traditions.

*sigh* Too funny.

No coincidence. brendan Perry said in interviews that he listened to Scott Walker in his childhood and youth because it was his father's favourite artist, and this song was an hommage to childhood memories among other things.

I feel indescribably sad afterwards, but am touched by the song's beauty. The singer's voice is haunting, even fragile. The music is very pretty. I adore the strange carnivalesque aesthetic. |
