There isnt enought time it happens in mil sec of coures if the piston stays down.
ecurveman (October 3, 2008 at 11:02 pm)
severng as the piston moves down under compression the exhast opens first at this point the gases start rushing out to atmosphic presure this allow about 85% of gases to excape now for the magic the fresh charge under the piston under presure forces a remaining 12% out leaving 3% in but allows some of the fresh charge out these relationships are refered to as savaging.

Well, that depends very much on the boat hehe. I think the torque on a 4 stroke 250 would be stronger then a 150 two stroke on a 36 feet boat. :-)
But then again, it is also alot about the direct injection, do they have carburetor, or EFI (Electronic fuel injection) or other direct injections... I think at two stroke it is essential that direct injection is used.

not saying they are but compare a 125 two stroke to a 250 4 stroke. theyre pretty evenly matched.

Some of the fuel mixture does get blown out the exhaust port....
Hence why 2 Strokes are unefficient creatures to run and one of the reasons they are not produced for the UK market anymore.
Global Warming and all that BS....
Bring back the 2 stroke I say... woohoo

one thing i dont get though is the exhaust port doesn't get shut off in any way, so how come the fuel/air/oil mixture doesn't get pushed straight out of the exhaust port from the rising piston????? look at the uncovered exhaust port between 1:19 and 1:21 |
