7.62 NATO is used in battle rifles and some sniper rifles, and 5.56mm NATO is the standard assault rifle round. This gun is measured in caliber, and is a bigger caliber than a .50 cal. I bet, though, that it has less poweder charge than a .50 BMG, though.
