Tribute to the great Richard Manuel about whom Eric Clapton said: "For me he was the true light of The Band. There was something of the holy madman about Richard. He was raw. When he sang in that high falsetto the hair on my neck would stand on end. Not many people can do that."

Just stuck in a beautiful cover version by Ms. Dar Williams, and need to drop by to hear Richard's voice again. Such a piece of pure beauty. R.I.P. we miss you, Richard.

something about this song brings you back to crossroads in your life and tempting you to right all your wrongs ,

Amazing song. There won't be another group like The Band ever again.

I, too, hear the resemblance to some "Pet Sounds" tracks but doubt there was any direct influence. Brian Wilson was moving down his own road in parallel with members of The Band. When he & the BBs were recording "Barbara Ann", Richard and his eventual Band mates were "The Hawks", backing Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins. Then "Along Came Mary", followed by "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", if you get my drift. Ordinary folk just get high; musicians get inspired.
