Points are only accumulated over the last twelve months. By the season's end, all of your points must have been accumulated within the current season. Therefore if anyone has a better season than Federer, which so Far Roddick, Nadal and Djokovic all are, he will not finish year end #1. If in your scenario Nadal wins the next six majors, not only would he have nine slams, but would be at least 2,000 points ahead of Federer and possibly considered the greatest of all time. But that won't happen.
