My mom was born there and lived there as a kid. My grandpa grew up there. We visited there this summer actually, it really hasn't been built up too much either.

One question I would not like to be asked in a situation like that, is, "Is it coming this way?"

1.7 miles wide

How big was this thing mile wise?

just driving toward it made me nervous...how can you see in the darkness...scary. That was a huge tornado.

You're right!! Sean Casey and his team picked Greensburg as their target. Common sense and instinct are just as important as book smarts.

If you followed Storm Chasers on Discovery last year, then you'll know that the crew, the hosts and everyone involved missed this tornado because one of the senior members didn't want to listen to an intern. They wound up pursuing the wrong storm system.

I'd be browning my drawers - holysmokes. Scary, scary stuff - "Hey, is it coming this way?" GAD I hope not ....... yeah, I think y'all need to get out of there - look for shelter - yeah. Great capture - adding to playlist - *StormSpinner*

Christoo92, i think the highest straight line wind was 160 mph, the highest in a tornado is 318 mph.
