If you closely pay attention to both forms of the final boss, you will see a blue force field, and it's triggered each time the player uses the bomb key. Perhaps that will explain everything a bit clearer to everyone who is confused about what is going on in this game.

why in these videos does the player STOP FIRING THEIR WEAPON WHEN THE BOSS HAS A PIXEL OF HEALTH LEFT. I MEAN COME ON ITS MAYBE LIKE 3 MORE SECONDS OF STRAIGHT SHOOTING AND YOU WIN

Can't get a ROM for it yet, hasn't been dumped. If you've got a modded PS2 or can get an emulator to run it wel, feel free to try the iso of the PS2 version.

The main music of this boss is called "So this is how you are". Once it starts doing the uber-impossible-omfg-attack, it switches to a more vocal theme called "Requiem of the Sky".
