Taiwan has developed the Jangbaek phased array radar and also the VLS cold-launch version of TC2. Therefore, the Kidds could be turned into Aegis platforms, although not as good as KDX3. And the other ships can be also turned into mini-Aegis(like those some European countries have).

Kidd can only engaged 6 to 8 targets at once, while Aegis systems can do so with 18 to 22 targets. It's easy to reach saturation attack to sink Kidd by today standards. Bear in mind that an aircraft can carry up to 4 Anti surface to surface missiles.

A Taiwanese Kidd-class vessel is not even remotely comparable to a multi-generational icon like Yamato.
The music is just too specific.
That said, it's a clean little vessel, and all warship crews deserve respect.
