This movie blew my mind...
It's so far ahead of it's time. 1969!

I love what you said here. I'm 52 and I have to agree. We didn't have high tech gadgets, computers, etc back then. I think there was a sense of wonder about the world that we have since lost.

God, movies were so good back then. I can't even describe it; it's like they contained something that no one else would know for a very long time.
The Vanity Fair article that hollywilliam1010 mentioned is definitely worth checking out, in it they write about how John Schlesinger had never been to New York before and so that's the way he filmed: like an outsider looking in on an alien world. I think it worked spectacularly in MC.
Obviously, my birth occurred 30 years too late.

Ditto. They dont make music even close to this anymore. We are lucky to have grown up in a decade that was so diverse and talented.

I woke up this morning with this song in my head. I'd not heard it or thought of it for maybe 30 years. It is as beautiful as I remember it. Thank you for sharing this great video clip.

One of the my favorite movies of all time--it's a classic
in so many ways....It will always make me happy and sad at the same time. Great party scene and the best song ever to keep it flowing along. Harry Nilsson was a rare rare find. |
