They all knew it was Cornell's version. Simon said so later and said they were talkiing about the fact that he covered that specific version and had an amazing vocal performance. You make assumptions and prove the old saying prove out.

Read Kaalec's lips...Gabe. Gabe, man. Gaby baby. Whasup? I think Simon Cowell who makes his living in the music business was probably aware of Chris Cornell. What he meant was that Cooke's decision to attempt to sing Cornell's version was a very risky choice and that if he didn't pull it off, it would be horrible. The audience is applauding a remarkable vocal performance. Gaby, if we slow down a little, do you think you could keep up?

just listen to simon "that was either incredibly insane, or incredibly amazing"... obviously he missed it too, else there's no reason to add insane as an option, there was a presumption by the judges that Cook came up with that edition, and million other viewers thought so too, no one is criticizing David Cook, i aint saying he's not amazing at singing, i am just stating the obvious.

ye, i know he did, but you can tell by the judges' response, and audience, it's so obvious they missed that part of the introduction, and slipped their mind
