I was a funk+show musician before I saw this show in '76, only played jazz for money. Rahsaan appealed to the showman in me but he also had a high level of musicianship. After that he came off as a historian who could summon sounds that come from the (american) 400year black experience. I know Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull studied him thoroughly. Rahsaan died young at 41 years old in 1977.
