it has been confirmed by a member of chuck jones family.chuck jones was a serial animal killer.he once arranged a trip to arizona with a few hunters.they killed a few coyotes and pushed two of them down a cliff.jones enjoyed the scene and from there the idea of dropping coyotes of cliff came in to his mind.he secretly encouraged horse slaughter and had a beastly mindset.

That's true to an extent, I believe. Most desert animals get all their water from their food and rarely have to find a water source to drink from.
